With the heavy snow we're having in northern england i was unable to get to work.
My question is, would you still expect to be paid?

Think of the positives.
Whenever the boss works with you. He can not accuse you of breaking out in a sweat.
In my company what answer you get as to whether to work in extreme temps, depends upon who you ask!
On the few occasions it has affected me I have always discussed the situation with management senior to me.
That way I get paid whatever the conclusion.

Here in the states NO WORK = NO PAY

Even if we where to supply our engineers with land rover, snow bikes, ski's they would still find a way to get out of coming to work, the problem is that most youngsters aged 30 & below do not like the cold, and if our lads get snowed in they do get paid but at a basic day rate.

We have had a fair amount of snow (about a foot it would appear has settled) and fair play to our lads they have all made it in to work every day so far.

But in answering your question, if they don't make it in to work no they won't get paid. If i can make it in (and bare in mind they all live closer) then I assume they too can make the journey.

I work for a very small company... me and the two co's... 1 who works out on the road and the other based in the office.... I had about a foot of snow and still made it in, except one day when there wasn't any breakdowns.... Neither of the co's made it in though

with all the water in NSW, it has to be in the Murry soonish in your part of OZ.

In Australia is summer now, inst it? I left this morning home at 7:20 and the temp was 20ºC... so the whole city is Christmas dressed, all the palm trees have their Christmas lights... and everyone is wearing T-shirts and having icecreams...
The South of Spain is sweet and warm... but 26ºC on 9th Dec... I think it's the airports controllers revenge!

Most of the east coast of australia has storms, high rain fall and floods. Very strange weather.
On the west coast, normal weather high 20s, low 30s celcius summer weather. Though a few weeks ago it did rain here on the west coast, normally doesn't rain at all in th west in late spring/early summer, and is normally a bit warmer

Hi Mad, 2500 kg lychees packed/day at this farm. Doesn't seem right to take free samples after charging them for work done. Nearly didn't make it out though, storm went through and creeks cut the dirt road. Could think of worse places to be stranded.

Did you round your time up or down, thats when freebies or should i say "client appreciation of the on site engineer" If a client offered me a freebie, even if it was only a cup of char, I like to think i would give him that little bit of extra service, including those extra few minutes. win win, Ok no taxes paid on the perks
