Thumbs down Appropriate thickness of rubber insulation

Need help re: appropriate thickness of rubber insulation needed for a low temp. refrigeration system with an evaporating temp of -38 degC. We need to replaced the old one since it is already developed a condensation that is really keeping the ceiling of the room where the pipe runs wet all the times especially when it defrost (hot gas defrost).

    Thanks,

Hi there, pipe insulation in this case would be the thickest you can get hold of, say minimum of 25mm wall. Insulation comes in 2m lengths.

You will need at least 60mm to avoid condensation there,,,,,i would not think about using rubber as it will eventually fail,,,look at using polyeurethane at least 50mm thick would be a starting point if yoou want it done right.Lawrie

For low temperatures Polyurethane foam is better suited than Nitrile rubber.
