Operating freezers on side or back.

    Hi All,

I want to use a small frost-free or chest freezer in a van for deliveries. I'd like to know if a domestic or commercial freezer will run correctly if the unit is on its back or side? If it won't, do I need to move the compressor to a horizontal position?

    Thanks,

    Justin

It will run, but it won't last very long.

I'd advise making room for it to sit properly or finding another way, keeping compressor relocation as an absolute last resort.

A chest freezer would be best because it is in the correct
    alignment to start with.
An upright will not run for long on its side because
the compressor has oil inside and the oil will not be in the correct place if laying down.

Power suply will be an issue, you will need one heck of an extension lead

    All the best
