Re: Illegal practices
You went to three years of college for mini split/evacuation!!!?! My God where did you go? University of Alabama?
And while certainly it is illegal to vent the gas into the atmosphere, it is not illegal to buy the equipment and even connect it as long as you don't energize or charge the system. It's not even illegal for regular people to buy refrigerant as long as they don't break the cap on it. I am a very technical DIYer and I can pretty much guarantee that it didn't take me three years of college to figure out how to vacuum a system nor to evacuate an old one. It is protectionism like this that gives the HVAc business contractor a baaaaaaadddddd name. No wonder there are so many DIYers. Can do AT LEAST as good of a job as the flunkie who put in my first three systems and probably a better job than most "professionals". I have a vacuum pump and a recovery system, does that mean that I need three years of college?
