If legal, we are all Pi**ing into the wind.
But then again Would anyone on the forum want to be involved?
    Never heard of this brand.
But I suspect we may in the future?

You get what you pay for, wonder if parts will be available when warranty runs out. Says D.I.Y. Like to see the destruction manual on comissioning.

dont see a problem with this at all, just go to hrp and you will get the same kw in mitsubishi heavy model SRK25 which is even cheaper, than the 1 advertised on ebay, other than giving it a good vacume, there is no reason that anyone couldn't fit it, Mikeref, what is there to commission?
plug it in aim the remote and away it goes, i know folks that install these into conservatories at a rate of about 3 a week, they do a cracking job and they are glaziers!!

I just really find this so annoying, why do we allow our industry to be used in this way. aplumber selling cheap a/c to anybody using precharged lines.

i just think it totally undermines our industry and the skills of the engineers. yeah your right parts will prove to be an issue later and all the other issues will be true but it undermines the legit companies quoting for jobs when people see this price structure and are led to believe anyone can do it.

time something was done to stop it. I think anyway.

the lines arent precharged the outdoor unit is, how does a painter feel when he see's someone decorating thier front room, how does a spark feel when his neigbour is fitting new lights and replacing all his sockets, how does a plumber feel when he is in b@q and the whole shop is buying new taps, i could go on and on and on, Why should we feel any different, tie a wrench to a monkey's hand and he'd throw in 1 of these type of splits, someone buying, coming to you for this unit, you would mark it up say 45% at least, then screw him to the wall for labour, pipe and sundries ect, thus bumping the price of the install up to the best part of £1000, as for needing parts! thats the thing with these units you get 3 -4 years out of it, then if the compressor goes, you replace the whole lot for another £250, if it was you installing a similar unit, say a mitsubishi heavy you get 3 4 years out of it the compressor goes, customer phones you up, you tell him the compressor is knackered and you want £350 to replace it, but reccommend he replaces the whole lot at another £1000, you do the maths!!,
i urge anyone who fells they are up to it, go on have a go, its easy..

    hi grizzly,

there are hundreds of different types of ac makes out there that we haven't heard of, it doesn't make them bad!! as for the price of the units advertised that's pretty high in my opinion, like i said i could get the same sized mitsubishi cheaper, this unit is probally made in the same factory in Thailand with the same parts as any other brand that we would not take a second about thinking of fitting!!

The biggest factor here I think is that most ordinary public folk think that air conditioning is new, just a little bit like central heating was in the 70`s

It will soon pan its self out and gain momentum as to those who can and those who can not

I don`t think the DIY units are any good but at least on the good side of the coin some people can make their own choice (and mistake) to buy their own and have a go at fitting it

    That`s my take

    Good points.
    I stand corrected!
