    Compressor start Relay sizing

    Hi
I have a frigidaire freezer 1999 year with a RF107-1 Americold 1624-3699 2.17 FLA 14.0 LRA 3699-0149372compressor. I've searched all over for the correct size relay ie. 1/16 hp 1/4 hp for it it had a 8EA 401 relay on it. This unit has me stuck Trying to figure out which aftermarket relay to use on the bad boy. Live in a small town in PA and do some trying to retire.
    Thanks for any help

Thanks I found that earlier I was trying to find out what size compressor it was. 1/4 hp 1/3 hp etc as to aftermarket units I have oh hand here are sized that way. Thanks for the help. That chart doen't do that. I've looked all over for the Americold 1624-3699 RF107-1 HP size. Guess I'm getting to old for this computer stuff. Thanks again

    Re: Compressor start Relay sizing

I cannot find the Americold specs but the Tecumseh manual crosses it to an AEA1380YXA which is 1/4 HP.

    I hope this helps.

Based on the FLA current and correcting for your 110V supply i'd say about 1/7th hp, its more guess work than science though...

Powell beat me too it as i was working it out!

    Re: Compressor start Relay sizing

SRW do some universal relays for small comps, the may even do the correct one.

    http://www.srw.co.uk/

Might by worth giving them a call.
If those relays had been burning for a while then the comps may well have died anyway...
