    Working in the UK

I have been looking for jobs in London as a service mechanic with 10 years experience. Would i be right in thinking that 30000 pa was about the norm pay?

Norm pay for a senior tech should be £28/£32k pa, as r.bartlet says you would need to take the relevant courses(c&g2079) to enable you to work on refrigeration equipment in th EU

    Hello Dave.

If you can work on your own doing repairs or installs
and you have a full driving licence then you should be Ok.

In the Uk we are expected to work on electrics as well as mechanics, we are plumbers also .

As for £30k that is not an unreasonable amount.
You could earn double that if you do lots of hours but a salary will pay top £20k to about £40k.

We earn 2 ways sallary or an hourly rate.
On a sallary you get what you earn and there is little extra if you work extra.
Hourly wage is a set amount per hour and if you work more than your weekly amount you get paid overtime rates.

    All the best

    .

    On the qualification front.
The minimum you will need is a gas handling qualification.
Companies would like you to have a refrigeration qual but an electrical or other mechanical qual may do.

Qualifications are not mandatory in the UK except the gas handling ones.

You have until next July to get that qual.
