    Smile Danfoss KVL valves.

    Hi.
Just as a matter of interest.
Has anyone had any problems with the Danfoss KVL12 crankcase pressure regulating valve running with R404a, leaking or sticking?
I have had a few give these problems in Zanotti stradle fridge units, and I have now seen that Zanotti are using the Sporlan CRO6 in their new equipment!!.
    Regards.

Do they stick open or closed?

mine remained sticked in a certain position after pressurizing the system while searching for a leak.

    Hi Jon.
The ones we have had problems with have tended to stick shut, or just leak out through the adjusting screw.

I was just wondering as a Zannoti unit i put a new comp on seemed to have a lower than expected suction pressure but i can never tell with cap tube systems, they always run lower than i would think!

Any reason for the loss of the compressor?
If not I would have a check of the valve, I am asuming that the unit you repaired has one fitted.
I have one on test at the presrent, at -20 sucction is about 5 psig, which is about 10 psig lower than I would expect, but seems to be running ok.
We use them for dual temp, so I am going to let it warm up and run it on the chill setting soon, let you know what I get latter.

    Re: Danfoss KVL valves.

The start relay had burnt out where the neutrals all connect up, (it had suffered a similar burn about a year ago) put a new relay and capacitors on and it lasted a week before it failed.
I am planning to cut the old one open and see whats gone wrong with it, but i suspect its electrical rather than mechanical.

The new one was running about 15/18 psi on R404A and i think the room was at -12/14c.
