    Rheem gas-pac air path designs, old vs, new insights?

    Old design: 1989 RRGG:

    -return-->(blower)-->clamshell gas heat exchanger-->evaporator--> supply

    New design: 2008 ish RRNL:

    --return-->evaporator-->(blower)-->tubular heat exchanger--> supply

    So, the old design had everything on push side and evaporator was placed after the heat exchanger.

    New design pulls through evaporator, then pushes through through heat exchanger.

    What are the pros and cons of the two designs?

    The new design seems to be built a lot sturdier, by the way.

    With the new design it allows for dehumidification with reheat.

    It also makes the heat exchanger cold and precipitate water soon after A/C turns off.
