Oil less compressor that runs 100% of the time

Local well known whiteware manufacturer here in NZ, company called Fisher and Paykel in conjunction with Embraco has just announced to much fanfare the recent developement of a brand new type of domestic compressor. No oil, and runs all the time, never ever stops in its suppossed 10 -15 yr life span. Been under developement for ten years and now at the stage where they are releasing limited numbers of these fridges with the new compressors installed. To give them real life testing, with full release in approx two years....

    Question...anyone know how they work

Check out this link http://tvnz.co.nz/business-news/brea...gy-f-p-3780717 for the article and pics of normal and new compressor

I have also been trying to find out more Looks like a linear compressor but a different design to the linears that LG has been manufacturing for some years.

Not having made 15 posts on here yet, I am not allowed to post a link (go figure!), but if you google NZPA Images then search for Fisher will bring you some images - some of which are cut-aways.

Maybe the same as oil-less reclaim units, uses the oil vapour/refrigerant mix
