    Electrolux compressor problem.

Hoping someone can help me :-)

My commerial style display fridge stopped working during a recent hot spell, with a lot of popping and general electrical burning smells.

After some investigation I've found that the leads between the start cap and the coil that plugs into the compressor have melted and were arcing. What's the name of the coil/inductor bit that plugs into the compressor, and can I get a new one form somewhere? I'm based in London UK.

I *think* the cap and the compressor are both okay (measuring the resistance across the winding)

    Any help most appriciated,

    Hi box,
this is the starting relay and the contacts inside ar most probably welded inside, you can fit any other make just make sure that it will be able to hold the starting currant.
compressor can be seized as well, the reading of the resistance will remain ok.
Any problems, fit instead a Danfoss.

    Re: Electrolux compressor problem.

    Many thanks for the reply.

I've had a look (using google) and I can't find anywhere that does either a direct replacement, or a patten part to replace my relay. Ideally I'd like a part that will push fit onto the compressor, under the cowling like the original.

Does anybody know a good parts supplier, preferably in the UK that might carry stock of these sorts of things?

    cheers :-)
