Mixing indoor and outdoor units from different manufacturers

    Hi,
With regard to domestic air to air units...

Does anyone know whether it is possible to use an indoor unit from one manufacturer with an outdoor unit from another?

    Regards,
    Felix

Mechanically perhaps but the electronic controls will not match normally.

I've got a dead DeLonghi with a burned out compressor motor. I may be able to pick up a similar sized LG outdoor unit very cheaply. I'd like to either graft the compressor out of the LG into the DeLongi unit (probably not possible I expect) or replace the entire outdoor unit with the LG one.

If both systems are same BTU and ON_OFF simple heat pump without any sensor in outdoor unit, you could couple them. Outdoor unit is then without any PCB, slave to indoor unit.
