i would like to work in Australia
Hi guys, ive been in the trade for 12 years but have never been to college/uni. Im starting a NVQ 2 at college later on in the month, this course is for 2 years and runs in the evening which is brilliant. What i was wandering was whether this qualification is enough to find work down under.

Re: i would like to work in Australia
Hi, I am currently in the process of applying for a state sponsorship visa which requires a minimum of nvq 2, you have to have your skills assessed in this country before you can apply for this visa, pm me if you need any more info. all the best, Kev

Re: i would like to work in Australia
i have just returned from australia Perth did 5 years.
large refrigeration companies in Perth
QAL
CITY FM ( city are in oz now also they do asda here and COLES supermarkets in oz )
QAL do woolworths supermarkets
there are various other companies such as online refrigeration Crawford Walker is the owner there top bloke.
you have to retake your refrigerant handling at carlisle tafe ( college ).
even though you have to do your TRA trade recognition assesment what a load of crap money spinner in my eyes.
you have to take there tests anyway you also have to have your restricted electrical license again test at tafe.
dont get me wrong fantastic place to live and work i did supermarkets there for 5 years.
just to far for wife and kids goodluck for you but its not a bed of roses expect a bumpy ride till you get settled.
in my eyes and from my experience same **** different country but hotter and hard on the body for the first year or so.

Re: i would like to work in Australia
kev be careful on a 457 visa mate i know a few lads who struggled on that visa mate.
some companies will screw you over and it happens.
keep you for busy period then see ya later.
not after throwing in a spanner mate just be careful and have your eyes wide open.
i went on 136 skilled occupation visa you get permenant residency straight away and work for who ever you want.
just a bit of friendly advice kev

Re: i would like to work in Australia
It is possible to do everything here, but you'll need a lot of dosh to tide you over until you can work. Unless you can find a company who don't give a stuff. And yes, they do exist here even with all the reg's & licences.
And of course you'll still need a visa that allows you to work here.

Re: i would like to work in Australia
Of course you could short cut the system by going to Indonesia,,,get on a boat motor over to ashmore reef,,,,get picked up by the navy,,,taken to xmas island,,,have a holiday and get flown to Aus for complimentary citizenship,,,,free housing,,,weekly allowance ,,,what more do you want?
