    Compressor Performance Modelling

Hi, new to this forum, hoping for a bit of help with some thermodynamics.
I get involved with various a/c projects occasionally involving custom manufactured compressors. Typically this would involve taking an open automotive scroll or piston compressor and turning it into a semi-hermetic or hermetic. Usually there will also be a change in refrigerant at the same time.

The problem we have is coming up with a reliable compressor performance prediction. The more usual, simpler, heat loads and system balance calculations are no problem. Prediction of a compressor performance with only very limited initial data is more of a problem and needs a deeper understanding of the thermodynamics internal to the compressor.

I'm looking for any recommended books/articles/papers which could help.

    Cheers

    Rich

Try www.asercom.org and browse for specs of a very large number of existing compressors. Based on the data published, you would be able to model performance of your compressor.
