GE UK Kit 2 Automatic Icemaker Installation Kit

I searched all over the web and came up with out an answer, so I thought I'd try here.

Is this kit (UK Kit 2) designed to replace the manual method of making ice cubes, or is a factory replacement unit, or both?

Also is there a web-site where I could find a complete listing of what makes and model number refrigerators this kit will work with?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Rookie

it seems to be the old 1/2 moon shape ice maker..okay but can't produce clear ice.(the mark of a good icemaker??)

low volumes only/low maintenance -usually it's the stat that fails-suitable for homes etc -most 'american type' refrigerators use this system
