Old Fashioned Fridge/Freezers
I have an old Kelvinator Cyclic 340/390. It has one thermostat and is a fridge/freezer. The evaporator in the fridge (U Shaped) has two wires on the top and bottom.
Does the freezer receive refrigerant first (the freezer walls get cold, but the fridge ones stay warm until the freezer cools-is this normal) or not?
And are the two wires on the evaporator in the fridge (on the back of them) supposed to be defrost aids?

Re: Old Fashioned Fridge/Freezers
yep the freezer is fed first.
you could say that the wires are defrost aids in fact they are a single wire heater with the function of controlling the cycling of the compressor so as erratic cycling does not occur, meaning a more stable temperature in the upper and lower parts of the fridge.hope this makes sense.mmm to beer or not to beer...........lets drink breakfast
