    Trane chiller

Hi guys, we have changed out a helical rotary screw compressor on a RTAC-200 trane chiller due to one of the windings being down to earth, it was not a burn out ie did not have that horrid smell but when we did a oil test the oil come back as marginal to acidic, we have removed the oil and gas to replace with new, but the oil type from trane is 00048 does anybody know if you can use Emkarate RL68H if not which oil dont really wont to get from trane due to there ridiculous price.

Also i was going to replace the core drier as normal but with an acid removel core but on this chiller there is no core drier just a filter screen with no drying capacity in the sporlan core housing do you know if you can repalace with a stanard core trane said no why i dont know

Also any of you guys used spectroline acid buster kit any good or just asking for trouble.

    Thanks

use the trane oil. it's best for the compressors.
If needed put a burn out filter/dryer in the oil line. don't use additives or anything else on these machines. u will get yourself into more trouble than u would want!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thanks guys, yer thats what we are going to do remove the old core housing and fit a new 1 1/8 danfoss DCR core housing which take 2x 48-DA acid cores and once the acid is under control we will just replace with stand 48-DM cores, spoke to a trane engineer which was in dean&woods last week and he said thats what trane whould do.
