New industrial compressors

I have a couple applications and am looking for the latest and greatest compressors available for an NH3 application. I have heard that Mycom has a new J Type screw compressor and a new M Type recipricating compressor and I have literature heading my way. Does anybody have feedback in regards to Mycom compressors?

Mycom are in general extremely good & simple compressors .
But series you suggest I can't say .
Have heard of valve problems in M comps but maybe its rectified now .

I used to rebuild mycoms and in my opinion they are one of the best if not the best compressor to work on, how often has anybody out there had to adjust the discharge end clearance on a mycom screw?, me never, the gaskets are precise (they are constantly the same thickness) and the parts machining is top notch (thrust bearing width).

I had Mycom recip compressors at the plant I worked at 15 yrs ago and by far the easiest to maintain and rebuild (which wasn't too often) VERY reliable units. They were in a propane service. I have Carrier now at the plant Im at now pffffft I wish I had Mycoms lol.

For industrial application ,very good Howden screw compresors.

Mycom screws are better than Howden in ammonia applications.
Howden consumes a lot of oil and the mech'l. seal including that of the oil pump leaks in less than 10k running hrs.

Maybe the ones you have experience with have.

But I can think of plenty that don't have these issues.
The Howdens I have worked with I have been impressed with.
It is wrong to be so harsh to any manufacturer and no I don't work for them.
Now to say you have had issues is fair.
For instance to say "they consume a lot of oil".
Any Comp will if it is not set up,or maintained correctly.
Most engineers ( myself included) have favourites,
Usually those makes that they know best!
I tend to favour Sabroe, J&E Halls and Grasso.

I would definitely recommend Mycom, check with Mycom USA web site.
I agree with Grizzly that Howdens are very reliable if applied correcty, Howdens are bullet proof, simple to work on.
It come down to product support and parts availability, and of course pricing.
