    Yellow Jacket 18975 1/4" Core/Vacuum Charge Tool

hi guys does anyone have experience with this type of tool, (the 18975 with the gauge port)

    http://www.amazon.com/Yellow-Jacket-.../dp/B0014JDNVO

im liking the idea of removing schraeder to vacuum and charge, unsure how much of a difference it will make? anyone else have any opinion?

I have charged using refrigeration back/open/front seated type service valve (king valve on the receiver if my memory serves me correctly?, could well be wrong)but cant remember how fast fast the gas went in?

I suppose I want to know if the £30 od is worth it?

EDIT: just realised its a 1/4" so I couldn't use it on 410a, is it possible to buy a 1/4" male to 5/16" female?

2ND EDIT: found an adapter http://www.ryanairconspares.com/mast...ter-p-760.html incase anyone is interested, obviously not to be used on gauges not designed to take 410a pressures, couldn't be used with valve core tool mind

Very useful tool, recently got a new one from Climate Center which included a R410a adapter.

Yes, evacuation speed will increase, you now have a hole the size of the outside of a valve core instead a hole the size of the valve pin.

yes skywalker they have been on the market for 30 years they are ideal for changing the scrader valve core , without de- gassing the system.

I've got one similar, great little tool for changing schreader cores while system is under pressure. also speeds up recovery vacing etc.
you can get a 5/16 threaded one for 410A also.

Get the 5/16 inch one. One thing the note is the 5/16 inch one has a 5/16 vacuum port on it not 1/4 inch. Its ideal to attach a vacuum gauge via a copper pipe to with no vac loss.

Sorry guys but how does this work? Are you saying you can
remove the shreader valve to vac and charge? How does this work?

Re: Yellow Jacket 18975 1/4" Core/Vacuum Charge Tool

Get a version with a ball valve as the shut off valve. My first one was the gate valve type, and when the main seal went, no-one stocked spares! I bought a ball valve type to replace the first one, & never had a problem with it.
Alec, that's what the tool is for. Removing the schrader (sp?) valve to make vac & charge faster.

No frigie should be without one of these, I have three of them along with all the extras like 3/8 X 6" ballvalve lines for the bigger stuff. Check them out on their web site yellow jacket (ritchie) superheat calculation kit. I now I go on about this product but I think it's one of my best tools and can speed up evacuation by 4 times faster!

Re: Yellow Jacket 18975 1/4" Core/Vacuum Charge Tool

javac do one for 1/4 and 5/16 ports but ive broke 2 already-by tightening onto the schraeder port u cannot unscrew it without rotating the entire tool then eventually the threads fail and u have gas rushing thru an open port! not good when the system has glo stick in and the schraeder port faces the main pcb on a 250 panasonic urban-had to jam a core in ,got burnt-lost approx 4kg of gas,and had to dry the oil off the pcb!!!javac say from overtightening!!!
