Unhappy 2 degree C cold room evaporator question.

I have been looking after a friend cold room made by a company called Celltherm. A leak appeared about 12 months ago on the evaporator on the coil end right on the bend that I managed to repair. About 2 months ago a crack off of the original leak appeared and has gotten worse to the extent that I need to replace either the coil block or the complete evaporator.

When speaking to Celltherm the unit is now defunct (made approx. 2000) and they have no spares.

The unit says 3.39kw absorbed and 6.41kw cooling duty.
The room measures (and this is where I become slightly confused) 2.8 meters by 1.4 meters and 1.95 high. So what I need to know is what size in kw evaporator do I need?? The product in the room is cheese, and the room is used to full capacity.

The factory evap uses a capillery line, that I would like to retain in order to keep costs down (mates rates).

The factory unit measures 250mm x 315mm x 250mm. Is that big enough for a 6kw cooloing capacity??!

I was thinking the room is rated at more like 2-3kw?

    Thanks in advance.

For cheese you need dedicated evaporator to avoid leaks (corrosion) on evaporator coil.
What is original evaporator make and model#?

Your mate is fortunate to have had so many years service from that coil. The modern copper coils are so thin. I've seen them rot out in a couple of months when used for cheese storage.

    hi
I would stick to the same size u have
But order a new evaporator either aluminum aluminum, or copper with special coating for corosive areas
    Good luck

Really?! Wow I never knew that, it's a celltherm module split type unit cell box 2 model number asn075xmje serial number 57249. Apparantly that celltherm went bust which is why the spares are no longer avaliable.

So storing cheese is a real problem? is it because of the way it breathes? I'm a chiller engineer so cold rooms are new, we this aspect anyway.
