    Pump Alignment

In the next week I am going to have to align the 3 chilled water pumps for the new Trane screws my company just installed. Problem is, it's been ages since I've done one and I want to do it the correct way, not just use a straight edge. My company also doesn't have 5K to drop on a laser tool, so any advice or direction to a good alignment website would be appreciated.

Laser tool not needed! A dial indicator does well.
Look up this link and it will tell you all you need to know.

    Re: Pump Alignment

    Very nice NH3LVR!

But a small tip, always ALWAYS! allign the machine sideways before you check the height.

if the machine is off sideways, they height will be off as well.

When I align machines, the first thing I do is make them parallel, even if they are off center.

when they are parallel I move the motor sideways and try to keep it within the parallel as I move it sideways.

Once you have the motor clocked in within the sideways tolerance you can start worrying about the height.
