Looking to work and study HVAC in USA

    Hi all Superfridgie here,

Anyone know the the best way to get sponsored to work and study in the USA as I wish to gain a degree in HVAC (Australia does not have this on offer only mechanical engineering) and specialize in green building design. Check out my 1st timer looking for advice thread and profile to give you some background located in the lounge new to RE. I have a young family that are willing to move as I have sustained an injury that will not allow me to be on the tools anymore and I wish to be the best that I can be, just need advise and a starting point as not sure how to go about this besides entering the DV Lottery.
    Cheers guys.
    Superfridgie.

    Hi Super Fridgie again
I have followed your quest. Try Carrier they offer to thier staff a program to assist to obtain a degree. This degree you are after may not give you what you wish for - to be one of the best. At the end of the day the best I have known in our industry don't have degrees. they are specialists. As for green building aspects most consultants just don't know how to do it - sure they can make a difference but it's guys like you who know how to zoom into the micro systems for efficiency and learn the macro/wholeistic to give the customer the biggest bang for their buck. You would need to know/learn mechanical and BMS controls with a good theory/academic to make a difference. So become one of the best in our field but don't admit it. Another thing is it takes time to master one aspect but if one spends too much time as the master of an aspect - how con he/she be wise on the whole.
As I see it you have three options to achieve your goal. 1 Carrier, 2 JC, 3 BMS controls energy management. After all you have the mechanical knowledge already.

Tesla you are a wise old fridgie my friend, "CARRIER OF COURSE" great idea and it would be great to be part of that design team! I have done some online research and found that in the U.S they have a Bachelor of Science majoring in HVAC-R which is 95% subject related, unlike Mechanical Engineering in Australia which only scrapes the surface if you have HVAC as your main elective! If I cant pull this degree off then I will re contact AIRAH (hopefully they wont tell me I cant do it again as I am nor an engineer) and apply for HVAC design for energy efficient buildings and become a consultant. Green buildings are fantastic if designed properly, we went to one in Melbourne 4 yrs back, architecturally it looked amazing HVAC side of things mmmm no so good, we ended up putting in DX gear so now everyone is comfortable in this one of a kind building..god it makes me laugh.
Cheers for your help Tesla and its nice even just to chat to you.
