Liquid lines around an upright chest freezer doorframe!!!

    Morning all,

I am slightly confused by this, why on some upright ches freezers is the liquid line piped around the doorframe? I know this must seem like a very basic and stupid question to some but it has always puzzled me!!

It comes from the discharge line to heat the door frame to stop it from icing up

It is used instead of electric door heaters, they require basicly no maintanence we use the same idea on refrigerated containers.

Oh ok thanks very much for the information, isnt that a fantastic idea!! I am very new to this wonderful game of refrigeration , so have one more question, if this is the liquid line how is it warmed up? I mean where does this fit in terms of the system? I am guessing after the condensor but before the evaporator?

problems come when the pipe rusts though, but can be bypassed.

Or when people decide to fit a padlock to the door, " It was hissing but has stoped now so it will be ok won't it?"
