Looking for someone to fund a great product

    Hello,

I can't reference the product site without Abe removing it so I will just say that I have a great product that can replace the diesel engine in all transport units. It has been test for over a year with large commercial customers wanting to see more. More, means a working manufacturing prototype that I can't afford to build. I requires about 50K dollars. The product has the potential to acquire about 80% or better of the existing market. Email me for more information.

If it has anything to do with Refrigeration and Air conditioning, try www.asercom.org and click on "Energy efficiency award". They give away 10,000 euro for the best project of the year, and the members of the organisation are the biggest compressor manufacturers of the world. They will surely fund the remainder, provided the project is significant.

Thanks NoNickName. I don't qualify for the prize. It is only open to residents of Europe. In addition, the idea must demonstrate a reduction in energy. My idea is too remove the diesel from the units. It still takes the same amount of energy to power the refrigeration. We just get it from a different source. But, thanks anyway.

Then it probably doesn't even qualify for this forum, does it?

I don't know. It is a new refrigeration product. It has been tested and approved. Is there somewhere else to post it? I am just a guy trying to make a living, not some big company with a product to sell. Thanks anyway. Oh, one more thing, is this forum just for the people in Europe?

Perhaps you'd like to tell us more about your new product?

This may interest readers. Remember, RE is well indexed on many search engines.

What I did was replace the diesel engine with a hydraulic motor in a Transicold Ultra unit. I also replaced the belt with another hydraulic motor. The unit is powered by a hydraulic pump on the tractor engine. The type of equipment used transfers power with about a 95% efficiency rating. The separate blower/fan motor allows for more accurate control during defrost without having to flood the condenser. Energy usage is directly proportional to the energy required at the refrigeration compressor and components. The concept not only takes the diesel engine, and related problem it incorporates, but it also removes half the weight and almost all the maintenance requirements. The unit saves fuel in enough amounts to actually pay for itself in less than two years.

I just read over what I posted and realized that sounds pretty simple. It is a lot more involved than it appears. For one thing, the controller to be used with a new unit would be wireless and either in the cab when in use on in the trailer unit when not used. The change from a diesel driven compressor to a hydraulic driven one required an integral flywheel and housing. There are also other numerous changes that have been developed to make the unit much better than any existing design.

what happens when the trailer is loaded in the sun,and the tractor unit or the truck engine fail and no 3 phase power available?we had that type of kit over here and it is not very flexible, frigoblock and govet have better product, sorry to say .

Well, for one thing, a complete failure of the tractor engine is pretty rare here in the US. Almost all equipment is less than a few years old. In the event of a complete failure, the box is kept closed and won't thaw for a least a few hours which gives time for the trailer to be unloaded or towed to a cold storage. By-the-way, these are the same arguments I have heard for many years and they are the same problems that occur with the diesel driven units only on a much more frequent time scale. And, one more thing, as far as I can find out, no company manufactures a full size hydraulic driven unit. It is not the same as a small unit and the functions are much more complicated than the small units.

Just one or two other considerations.... Over here fridge motors are fueled with rebated "Red" diesel which is considerably cheaper than "White" diesel... Even if the truck engine is running, it will still need more diesel to power the truck and fridge than the truck on it's own... Also your system would work well for distribution work, but for continental work, I know of no facilities where a vehicle could plug in for an overnight break, so this would mean that the truck engine would have to be left running all night... Having done this kind of work, I, as a driver can sleep with a fridge diesel running but it is almost impossible for me to sleep with a 14 litre diesel ticking over below me...

I too have a much more environmentally friendly idea for this problem but the animal rights people aren't too sure that a Polar Bear on a bicycle powering a compressor is the way to go..

I've been following ColdCarUSA for a while, and it looks like they are plugging their truck-mounted condensing units into power sockets of the motels they are staying for overnight rest. It seems they have some sort of arrangement with specific motels around USA. I may be wrong, though...

Nonickname, you're correct. A lot of smaller outfits are making deals to plug in their trucks for overnight stays. The larger companies, like the one I drive for, try to make sure that I can get the breaks I have to have without running the tractor during those breaks. We are restricted by law on how many hours we can drive per day. Yes, some people have more than one book but, I don't really find the need to do that. I do however, shut down for three to four hours at a time without any problem. As for the type of unit mentioned, I have yet to see one but I do know of a few who have and they were impressed with the overall operation of it. Who knows, maybe there are better mouse traps out there.
