    B-52 Code Interpretation

Question…in the B-52 code it states under section 6.8 "Location of refrigerant piping", 6.8.3: "Refrigerant piping shall not be installed in any enclosed stairway, stair landing, or exit". What if these lines were encased in drywall or sheet metal (fabricated around the lines) Would this be acceptable? Thanks very much for you time.

    Re: B-52 Code Interpretation

Probably the reason for your code demand is to prevent the possible escape of gas collecting in the stairway which is a fire escape route I expect.

If they are encased then they will still need to be vented to outside.

Whether that meets your Code is another matter.
