Re standby allowance
Just wondering what the average standby allowance is in the uk
My former employer paid £125 per week with an extra £50 if it fell on a bank holiday(large manufacturer)
My current employer pays £65 per week with an extra £20 if it falls on a bank holiday(facilites managment company)

Re: Re standby allowance
I used to get £30 a week 7 years ago, but we would get phoned up even when we were'nt on standby and boss would get real snotty if we didn't go out.
Once even phoned when i was on holiday! stopped talking to me for about three months after i said i was on holiday, got all my work instructions via another engineer!
Happy days....

Re: Re standby allowance
Standby money? Zilch, nothing, zero, sweet fa but we`re expected to be available at the drop of a hat. If I feel like going out on a call out I will otherwise I just say I`m busy even if it`s my turn on the rosta.
I get away with it as I`m the oldest there but the younger guys get thier balls chewed off for not being available.

Re: Re standby allowance
Varies wildly between companies, but £100 per week, plus an extra £50 for a bh w/e is about the going rate.

Re: Re standby allowance
We get £10 per night weekdays and £20 per day weekends. Not bothered though its a token, you make your money on call outs. Rather be not on call and commissioning all the time though!!
