    What its horse power LRA = 49 and LRA = 58

    Please help.

    I gonna change window type aircoditioner the BTU is 24,000 and 18,000 and i have compressor LRA = 49 and LRA= 58. What is horsepower of that compressor. What LRA i will use in 24,000 BTU,
    What number of microfarrad ( uf ) of capacitor i will use in 2 compressor.

    How can i know the horsepower of window type aircon, in BTU, kj, Ampere, Watts, Ton.

    Hi in order to calculate please give some info on voltage ,this is an important factor and of course no' of phases!!u should know that most units have a name plate on the back or front with all the energy ratings.

    LRA = Locked Rotor Amperes.

    18000 BTU is 2 HP
    24000 BTU is 2.5 HP

    for the firs one 40mf
    for the second 50mf

    you can tell the capacity of the compressor from the model number.

    Hi :
    12000btu=1tr
    and hp is by rule of thumb approximtly as quoted
    but calculating watts and amps is directly voltage related!!
    i think u will like this one :

    220 volts, single phase, what Compressor LRA will i use in 24,000 BTU,

    LRA =49 or LRA=58.

    When you changing compressor, try to stick with original one by model number. If you cannot, than you need to find displacement of original compressor to find replacement one with same pumping capacity. Or, you need to find capacity of original compressor at some standard condition like ASHRAE for AC (7,2°C evaporation and 54,4°C for condensation temperatures) and find replacement with same capacity at SAME conditions.
    Horsepower (in cooling capacity) is of not much practical use here because of rounding practice. Since window type AC have usually capillary tube as expansion device it is essential (for proper work and compressor longevity) that compressor have as much as close capacity (at same conditions) or displacement.

    Hi there i usually dont choose a comp by lra, but by nominal current in your case ,220v 24000btu would be approx 8 amps = 56 lra ,but as mentioned above ,a compressor should be replaced by the same make and model
    this will save u time in instalation and running.

    If you know LRA, you can find out exact running ampere.if LRA 56 Then 56*100/500=11.2A.

    Not exactly! Running current depend on compressor compression ratio and state of mechanical parts. These changes, but LRA is always same.
    We have LRA => 5 to 7*FLA
    FLA => Fixed number
    Running amperes => lower than FLA

    Do not compare compressors by amperage.
    Only correct is:

    1. By displacement and same area of application (LT,MT,HT,AC)
    2. By same capacity at SAME RATED conditions and same area of application (LT,MT,HT,AC)

    A really easy way to calculate the ball park of rla/fla is to divide LRA by 5. 56/5=11.2 Most motors lra is five times higher than its rla/fla, but can be as high as 7 times higher.

    Hi i think we would all agreee that the best way is to read the amps stated on the nameplate itself.
