fridge compressor for freezer use ?

I've just built a new freezer (2nd hand panels)

and have been waiting for the refrigeration engineer I use to find some 2nd hand compressors etc... to fit to it

(there's a credit crunch on and I'm a bit skint! - buying new would put me into debt)

there's a local factory which has just been taken over.... just before the new guys moved in a year ago, the old ones spent 25k on a new fridge system....

a mate was doing some work there and told them to give me a ring to see if I was interested in buying it... had a quick look, realised it was a fridge and no good to me....

but would I be able to buy the compressor, and some matched freezer evaporators and make it work ?
(if I could buy the compressor cheap, I could probably afford new evaporators)

or are the compressors for fridges and freezers different ?

(it's oversized for what I need, which is a good thing because we use the room for freezing meat, and are getting busier all the time)

I'd ring the fridge engineer I use, but he's a busy guy and I don't like to bug him too much - he's the best engineer I've found in the area - we've been messed around by cowboys in the past!

If you could get the make and model number of the condensing unit then we could tell you what temperature range it is suitable for.

What are you storing in your coldroom?
Is it going in frozen or are you going to freeze it in the room?
How much weight are you planning to put in in one go?
Whats the size of the room?

If its a lot of weight and needs chilling quickly, then you need a blast freezer and a LOT of money....

Something to consider with secondhand equipment is how easy and quickly can spares be got for it? and how much will it cost in lost stock when it goes wrong?

I'll go see it tomorrow and copy down the model numbers etc.. and take some photos

the room is (roughly) 20 foot wide by 30 feet long, and 12 feet high, insulation is 5 inches thick, door is opened quite regularly for about 8 hours a way.... can add up to 1000kg of fresh meat each day to be frozen, but it doesn't have to freeze right away... and 1000kg is a very rare/busy day...

I asked on here when I first bought the room (minus the gear) and it was agreed I'd need about 18kw of cooling power, and should aim for more to be sure.

the door will be right on the corner, so I plan to use a couple of left over panels I have and some of those plastic curtain things to make separate section inside to make a 'porch' and hopefully stop all the cold air rushing out when the door is opened!

I'd normally avoid buying stuff like this myself (unless it was cheap enough to throw away if wrong)

but I know for sure that it's only a year old, and cost 25k when new (just for the system, room was already in place) - i used to deal with the company who was there previously

2005 is a lot older than I thought it was, I guess they must have brought it with them from there previous factory ? (they moved, but closed down soon after)

I took my camera to take some photos... but the battery ran out (doh) so took some photos using my phone, they're not great, but I'll post them up anyway...

I googled, and I think this is the right one ?

according to that side, the K2000CC compressor is only good for high temperature evaporation... but I couldn't see any information for a KP2000CC compressor ? are they the same ? or might there be a difference ?

I'm no expert on these but from looking at the Dorin site you would need a compressor ending model ending in cb for low temp with R404A.

You could have a word with AFR refrigeration who are Dorin import agents, they might be able to tell you what the p is for also.

Thats quite a big room, what underfloor heating system does it have? Whats the floor construction?
