ceiling mounted remote control for split A/C units
Hi guys I'm quite new to RE and i could do with a little help regarding a nifty little device that fixes onto the ceiling, it senses when someone is in the room, when that person leaves the room it sends a signal to the A/C unit to shut down. now i have see this on a couple of websites but i can't seem to find a supplier of the units.
i was hoping that one of you guys might have come across them and could tell me firstly if they are any good and where i can get them from.
Thanks Steve

Re: ceiling mounted remote control for split A/C units
Depends on what make/model system they are for. Generally you can use just a normal PIR sensor, like what is used for security lights or burglar alarms. Depended on the system you would then either need an interface board or connect the sensor through a contactor to kill the power to the air conditioning.
We´ve done it a few times on wallmounts and they work OK, but you need to set the delay quite high 5 or 10 mins to stop the air con starting/stopping too much.
