variable speed drive for receprocating airconditionear
Is it possible to fit a variable speed drive to a airconditioner having receprocating compressor and will it save power consumption.

Hi
it is possible but u have to be careful,
danfoss have a special program built in for this ,your major problem is lubrication.
basicly if it wasnt designd to be an inverter type ac i wouldnt touch it .THE DEFINITION OF A SMART PERSON IS ONE WHOM LEARNS FROM HIS MISTAKES!!!

it seems if you are just retrofitting a standard A/C with a VFD you would run into capacity and settings issues with your TxV as well... most of the inverter units uses EEV's so they can adjust for the reduced compressor capacity in the computer program...
