    Thailand watch

It looks like the Thai military may be closing in to murder a number of unarmed protesters in the coming hours.

The Thai government has hardened its stance towards a peaceful protest that has been ongoing for the past one month. Last Saturday saw some 25 deaths, and nearly 900 injuries.

The military is said to be planning to move in at 06h00 tomorrow morning. Snipers have already been positioned on all high vantage points.

If you are on Facebook, you can follow on http://www.facebook.com/UDDThailand.

Please remember these people who are protesting against an illegitimate government.

There is never a reason to murder your own civilians. I'm sick to my stomach over this as I have many friends there.

I don't usually get involved in these kinds of things, if at all possible. Apologies if it offends some of the RE readers.

It just worries me to see what seems to be going on. It is just too incredibly sad.

It is so sad to see the harm that man is capable of, especially when it is compared to the good he can do when so motivated.
My thoughts go out to the people of Thailand and your friends there, I hope they will be ok.

    Re: Thailand watch

The Thai military has been building up presence since 3 am this morning. They have threatened a military-style mission against these unarmed protesters. http://twitpic.com/1goptw

In the meantime the Prime Minister has run away (gone on holiday) & left the capital BKK. Amazing Thailand.

The Nation & Bangkok Post are incredibly biased towards the Thai regime, & should be read with a few pinches of salt.

    Hi Des A.
I have worked in Thailand and the people are wonderful and totally with their King.
What is it with the elected/ supposedly Government. Some people wear red shirts some wear yellow shirts.
I am picking it will go the same way as the old Burma now / what ever. Probably time to pack up your toys and stuff and leave.

    Re: Thailand watch

The military arrived early this morning & have stayed in positions near the protesters during the day.

Using their usual brave & fearless tactics, the troops may very well attack under cover of darkness. The protesters seem to be prepared for such an event. They have threatened to push the soldiers back to barracks with their bare hands, if they do not voluntarily move away.

    It has become very tense.

    Re: Thailand watch

The stand-off between military armed with automatic rifles & live ammunition, and unarmed protesters, remains in place.

How this will finally unfold is anyone's guess. The atmosphere is so incredibly tense.

Thai military has a history of slaughtering unarmed civilians. An awful scenario.

I'm going to raise this topic again. Sorry.

If you have any time, please take a look at what is happening in Thailand at the moment. It is too incredible for words. I have no more. Just look for yourself.

    Hi Des,
News from here is that there are snipers picking off people from where ever, now all the country people are going to town to support uprising.
Is it a case of the wealthy minority still wanting to rule and control by what ever means to maintain there rorts. Last time I was in Thailand there was a definite them and us.

    Re: Thailand watch

Thanks Magoo. Very wise observations. You are correct.

For the last 3 days, the Thai government and its UK born, Eaton/Oxford educated prime minister (known locally in the UK as Mark Vejj) have been using its citizens as cannon fodder. It is absolutely incredible to see. This seems to be all in the name of the Thai royal family and elites.

Despite every attempt to ask for UN-mediated peace-talks, the government rejects these & scales up the level of killing. This PM has now set the record for the largest number of Thai deaths of any PM. He is now known as The Bloody Butcher of Bangkok.

    Hi Des
It would seem that the only way to get the attention of the ruling minority is a trade restriction ban. That would screw the motor assembly industry, the fish farm industry and many more. The sad side is the torment created for the workers. The actual wealth generators.
The King has to make a statement and pull everything back in-line. I dread the thought of a coup and going the same way as Burma.

With the recent massacre, it is already in the same league as Burma.

It would seem that democratically elected governments are not acceptable to whoever. Is it intelligence or lack of. I think Thailand is in for another coup, add slaughtering the locals in the mean time.
