    Caravell by Friulinox problem

    Hello All
I have a freezer Caravell by Friulinox It switches on ok but it gets hotter inside rather than cooler? The controller is an Eliwell EWPC974T I do not have an operating instuction book so do not know if it is in some kind of defrost mode as the fan inside does not run at all. At first power up the whole controller flashes then it reads 24 deg c & there is a small led that flashes under "comp" after about 30seconds the small led stops flashing and the compressor starts up but the fan on the inside does not start up, & instead of getting cooler inside it gets hotter. Any suggestions

    Hi Simon
I did download a manual for the Eliwell but it was just a set of parameters. I couldn't find any other info wiring diagrams etc. I checked the parameters it seems that they are not all used only about half of them ? I have also checked the Temp probes they are both fine.

    Re: Caravell by Friulinox problem

    Hi Simon
Yes the controller could be wired wrong but I dont have wiring diagram so I cannot tell. the unit was bought as part of a business it was supposed to be working I cannot contact former owner any more to try and get a bit of history on the freezer ie has anybody been fiddling with settings in the control unit.
I am not a refrigeration engineer but I do work on temp controllers amongst other things in my day to day work. I am capable of replacing any of the parts on the unit if required but everything appears to be ok.
A refrigeration engineer did come and look at it he assertained that the 2 temp probes and temp controller were all u/s just by opening the freezer door and quoted £250 to fix it. This is were I was called & asked for a second oppinion, I know that the temp probes are ok the controller seems to function except the fan never seem to come on. I would like a few tip as to what to look for before I get another refrigeration engineer to come out as the last one was obviously trying to replace parts that were not broken. If the unit required regassing would this be causing the problem of overheating? There is little or no info on the friulinox site a wiring diagram would be a great help and a set of parameters for the eliwell controller
    Cheers

Red face Re: Caravell by Friulinox problem

not a fridge man tut tut yeah am happy to help but u canot break into the refrigeration system as not being qualified it would be very dangerous for u and be an illegal release of refrigerant so dont do it as for parameters and wireing forgive me if i am teaching u to suck eggs on any point but will walk ya through it as if explainin to a child an if ya have a question ask dont be affraid if ya dont no somat ok unplug the unit trace mains cable in that should go to a terminal block of some type from there it will split off to all the various stuff elastic trickery is like water it has to flow or it wont work am doin this in my head so bear with me u should have a supply running up to the conttroller a live feed brown cable if u have controller wireing diag u can see how that is wired the feed to power controller maybe 12volt dont mess with that we no it works pop controller out of its hole and on top should be a pic of how it wired trace the cables u should have 1 going to compressor and condenser fan 1 to evaporator fan and 1 to defrost heater and 2 others are probes check they all go where there supposed to according to diag on top then check how they are switched with a tester this is the bit where if u are not confident get someone qualified as in spark or fridge monkey cos u will need to have power on and at best u get nasty shock at worst u kill yr self or someone else will do parameters when i looked them up

hoo depends on probes wrong setting and it will not show a temp
h42 make sure evap prob present
    rel leave it alone
    tab leave it alone
the remaining parameters leave alone these are a general rule of thumb settings i us on start up they can be modified to suit unit and conditions and user and they are for a freezer and off the top of my head so see how it goes if your unit does not work am afraid you may need a specialist and if you are not sure still about electrics get someone qualified to do the testing
