PED & Relief valve advice sought
Hello,
First post here so please be gentle
Have done some research & think I have a reasonable understanding but reading through all the regulations etc is very heavy going so am hoping for some confirmation ;
If I have 'created' a 'pressure vessel/system' by connecting a remote condenser using pipework with a max allowable working pressure ( say 20 bar), should my pressure test be 20 x 1-43?
Also, what should the lift setting on my safety valve be; assuming correct sizing for exhaust ( is it 10% above max working pressure)?

The pressure test is right at x1.43 times the PS, but the safety valve must be set at any value lower than the PS, including the max positive tolerance of the blow off. E.g. if the valve has a tolerance of +1/-2 bar from the stamped value, you have to buy a 19 bar safety valve.

Hi NoNickName,
Surely the relief wil e above the 'max working pressure' or then you never can achieve max working pressure as we will have lifted the relief?

Re: PED & Relief valve advice sought
The PS is the max allowable pressure. There is no such a "max working pressure". The whole 97/23/EC directive doesn't contain the word "working".
And surely the relief valve must be set BELOW that value.
The test pressure must be set in accordance with the PS.
