Yes, 60 μF is the right size capacitor.

Thanks Chemi, but I need value for start capacitor which must be larger.
It is some chiller on ship for which I don't have any data (for now) except compressor model and they told me that there is start and run capacitor on each compressor (there are two compressors in unit). Run is known and start is of unknown value (not readable).

this may sound dumb but is there an identical unit aboard ?a reasonable meter could give you a mfd reading,is the start cap at fault?
mmm to beer or not to beer...........lets drink breakfast

I don't have details. I just wanted to help colleague (some 100 km away from me) with data if available on net.
Your question is not sound dumb, in fact, it is clever one and that is what i asked first, but he doesnt have any capacitor measuring instrument. I advised him to get one and measure capacitor on second compressor like you suggested.
I taught that someone maybe have information from some catalog to confirm since second compressor start capacitor could be with somewhat smaller capacity becaose of age.

You can use any start capacitor from SP to SP8.

I saw that page yesterday (one of first Google results) and said my coleage to try to use 100μF based on what is writhen there (anything between 88-108 μF).
Did you give wrong shortcut, since i don't see any reference at SP or SP8 on that site.
I told my colegue to see if starts OK and drop start winding rapidly. He said that it works OK with 100μF .

Thanks Chemi! Now I see what you mean. Unfortunately, they are rarity here.

Are they used together with run capacitor or alone as replacement for start and run capacitor, since there is mentioned some voltage sensing device and electronic potential relay?

They are used alone but one wire is connected to the run capacitor.

They can wake up the dead...

I have one for years, SPP8, if it doesn't move a single phase motor, i throw it away.

I have used to install them on every unit. really good capacitors.
