    Checking/adding compressor Oil

Is the any level gauge to monitor oil level in the compressor. I have tried to find some indication but can't. Wherever I charge a system or attach manifold to observe pressure/temp, I always find oil leakage in small quantities and over a period of time it may result in considerable loss of oil. Also how do we add oil in the system, some pump or anything else.Best regards

    Re: Checking/adding compressor Oil

On hermetic compressors used in AC systems there is not an oil sight glass normally.

As compressors get bigger then sometimes you will find a sight glass.

To add oil you need a manual oil pump such as that shown in this link...

The loss of both oil and refrigerant is one reason for not connecting guages unless absolutely necessary.

Unless there has been a leak or a major item failure you should not need to connect guages.
