hi i have got to be honest with u there is no way to refurbish these comps 100% ,trane wont release their specs!if u want to replace the windings that is no problem ,but dealing with the screw and spacing is a problem ,we have done this, but u will losse 10 -15 % of comp capacity.
sorry so unless someone out there has the specs this is all i can provide.

hi you can buy the bearings from any decent bearing supplier ,the lipseals you can get from trane , you,ll have to make your own o rings and gaskets, before you take it apart check the thrust settings and you will be ok ,for the stator removal there is pin located under the terminal plate, screw a 5/16 bolt and pull it out, and slide the stator out.

To be honest we were always told that screws were not field servicable, because they have very tight tolerances, need special tools to get the spacings right (or maybe it was the thrust settings). Basically, your best (and IMO only realistic) option is to part exchange them with Trane. Remanufactured screws have been available for about 4 or 5 years now.

    Ex Trane guy.

Thanks for your reply. Screws are not that difficult to repair. I do many different compressors, but i always try and get the manufaturer specifications.

    Re: Trane screw compressors

Guys, it may not be a great idea to give that info on a public forum where odd-job maintenenace guys might find it. I recently witnessed someone who technically should have known better switch off the condenser pump while a RTHD chiller was running, so he could change the strainer! Now what might happen if he got into the software, eh? And imagine if mr. Odd-job maintenance guy did!

    HI:
u have a point ,but dont forget as said before "dont mess with it if u cant fix it "
and if they do ,thats when we come in handy!
today most of these "Odd-job maintenance guys"
could get ahold of anything they want .these passwords are mostly common knowledge, as they are written in the trane user manual!

Ah, I'd only the maintenance muppet at Luton had read the manual - he wouldn't have frozen the evaporator on a brand new RTAC!

NOTE: The DynaView display and Touch Screen Lock screen is shown
below. This screen is used if the Display and touch screen and lock feature is
enabled. Thirty minutes after the last keystroke, this screen is displayed and
the Display and Touch Screen is locked out until the sequence “159
    <ENTER>” is pressed.

    Re: Trane screw compressors

back to the original post. overhauling a screw calls for expertise. if u want to change the bearings u need to know how much force is used to push them in place and have the correct tools to remove the old ones and place the new ones. imho not a diy job.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Goshen, I was working for Trane at the time, so yes we did. Supply & commission only though. I heard later that the maintenance muppet had not been sacked, but promoted to facilities manager!
