extract fan size
Can someone help me, how to calculate the extract fan size? I googled. Got different input.
One method is room volume divided by air change
2nd method is room volume multiply to 1.5.
Both are entirely different. Which is correct?

Re: extract fan size
Volume x air change rate = fan
room 6m x 8m x 2.7m = 129.6 m3
6 AC/hr is therefore 6 x 129.6 = 777.6m3/hr

Re: extract fan size
Hi Moideen,
There is something confusing in the chart on that web site.
They are working by how many minuets it takes for an 1 air change.
If I use their example, then it is 15 times an hour.
It is actually the same as the distinguished member eggs said but from another angel.
My personal opinion is that to change air in a room, it is better to push air inside then to extract it.
In simple words, the size of the extracting fan is:
Volume of the room X times of air changes per hour = capacity of fan.
Remember to look at Db of noise when you look at the fan's curve.
Good luck.Last edited by chemi-cool; 05-03-2010 at 10:29 AM.
