Biggest refrigeration forum in the world!

This announcement has been placed on the Main Portal of this site. I am not trying to be a trouble maker but I was wondering on what basis that statement was made.

I read a site that orginated in Canada that claims to have over 32,000 registered members. http://hvac-talk.com/vbb/

Re: Biggest refrigeration forum in the world!

Shogun, can i please suggest you read a book?
I don't know, but i suspect this book is only available in countries not covered by USA censorship.
If you have trouble finding it. Contact me, i will make sure you get a copy.

"Why do people hate America?" it is titled
    Icon Books
    IBSN: 1840465255
    Ziauddin Sardar, Merryl Wyn Davies

Now perhaps if you could find this book and read it, with an open mind, maybe you would understand the stereotypical American as we(we, being the rest of the world) do.

i certainly do not find you a drag on this site, but i do notice, on occasion, that your post do sometimes slip into that "American Way" of trying to educate the "uninitiated" on old, outdated technologies.

Now as i have read the aformentioned book, i understand your predicament. You are not to blame. Until you and your countrymen stop believing the lies and half-truths that Hollywood feeds you, you will never be at peace with the rest of the world, or within newsgroups/forums that contain members from other countries who's ideology does not necessarily relate to what you have been educated to believe in the American education (read brainwashing) system.

Until Americans in general, realise that there is more to the world than the stars and stripes. You as a nation will have to tolerate the baiting of the Europeans, Asians, Africans and Australasians.

If you can't stand the heat, then get...........................(is this an american phrase?)

    cheers

    Eggs

I post and guess what.............you beat me to it!!
    Shucks!

Im trying to locate a posting Shogun scribed around 7 months ago.......about being a New Worlder........ cant find it..............yet!

About being insular looking and shutting himself off from the rest.....

But this is what I want to say right now...........Its Saturday night and no, I am not on a binge.........

Whether this is a world famous or big forum is irrelevant.

It is a freindly and helpful site, and it has members who are skilled, knowleageable and used to trading their knowledge in the overall scheme of our industry, life , work and incomes

Yes. it is not avoidable to sometimes embroil political sentiments , often they are harmless.

It is when " sensibilities and sensitivities are aroused that a member chooses to take it personally is when the friction occurs..........

When respect for a fellow members opinions , culture, or status fade, then the stripes of arrogance and patronism will stain the posting in a response.

And it does not happen often, I am glad to say.

So , this is what I say to Sho gun, if you care about this forum then serve to unite, not divide..........

    This is a brotherhood.........

Re: Biggest refrigeration forum in the world!

I love you guys ... your so righteous Ex-colonial countries like the United Kingdom, France, etc, have all committed atrocities. They all have people and nations who still reserve some hatred for them due to past events, wars and politics. And rightly so. The most prevalent form in Western nations of anti American feelings is due to intellectualized reasons. In short this amounts to opinions on Americas actions. Intellectual hatred is based on principles, morals, and historical hatred based on present conflicts and actions of the USA.

In Europe, it is largely intellectual hatred of America that people take with them after abandoning childhood jealousy. Perhaps choosing to intellectualize their distaste by concentrating on North America's poor spots in history and current affairs, rather than understanding it and it's globalisation, materialist dreams and multicultural freedom.

Opinion polls show that half the German population is openly critical of US leadership for a number of reasons: Its failure to consult its allies as promised Its refusal to sign up to joint action against global warming Its protectionist stance on trade issues such as steel and agriculture"
As the world's richest nation, jealousy does give rise to hatred. Many level headed people will subconsciously feel it's effects, even though they may recognize it as what it is, many won't.

There is much unjustified hatred of America. Much of this arises from the victimisation complex that sweeps much of mankind. Whoever is in charge, whoever is powerful or successful will also be hated. This immature hatred often evaporates quickly with a little reason or thought except of course not with the mentality of some people I know. Finally, the whole world does not hate the USA. The masses of the world in the most part see it as imperfect, often an oppressor, often a humanitarian country, often wrong, often right. The hatred of America does not match the hatred of the United Kingdom 100 years ago. They done some seriously inhumane and undefendable things back then. and are constantly apologizing about it.

The USA has done terrible things too. The key is in apologizing. Although the government seems far from making any concessions, showing any humility or even the faintest sign of modesty, the world understands that the American people are hurt, and the world is sympathetic and caring. People in most nations know that American people are no less human than anyone else, trying their best. Governments and massive organisations, however, are frequently the last to realize when such human emotions need to be brought to the forefront. However I believe we as Individuals are trying I don't consider myself as a person who is trying to devide this site . lets be honest ..How many of you would sit back and take Marc O'brion's BS day in and day out and not respond. If you can take that sh88 then your a better man than I am. I said it before and I'll say it again my only intention is to give the best advice I can but I don't need someone putting me down. Believe it or not but on other sites I am well respected and we don't knock someone for having an opinion. I am not the only one on this site O'Brion has pissed off, it seems he has a need to be omnipotent Anyway Your opinions are well taken

    Keeping to the initial subject...
HVAC-Talk may have more members, I am one of them, but they are NOT world wide (nor is the standard of discussion as high). Have tried accessing many times, "page cannot be displayed" is all I can get, have heard somewhere, maybe on this site, that the HVAC-Talk site will not allow access from certain ISP's and/or certain regions. I could once access the site and still get the occasional email about a response to one of my posts but can't for the life of me gain access now.
Can anybody confirm this true or false?
PS If its too contentious to call it the BIGGEST forum in the world then don't worry, nobody can argue if its referred to as the BEST refrigeration AND HVAC forum in the world.

Re: Biggest refrigeration forum in the world!

    Shogun,

What we feel here very strong is that the US government sees his selves as the patron saint of democracy.
I don't blame you personally for this vision and I'm not saying you hold the same idea nor that every American thinks the same way.
They wants to force their idea - which they see as thé ideal way of leading a country - in every land/nation where they can make huge benefits.
Who say democracy is the best?
Is Lc in China so unhappy, are the Russians better of now that the the system changed, Is Botrous unhappy in his country, is Chemi unhappy despites all the shootings...?

We may not force our ideas and intrude in other countries from which we personally thinks that our system is the best for all.
What should you say if an Islamic nation attacks US and force you all to live the way they do? You shouldn't accept it.

We all grow up under different conditions,...I grow up in a democracy and find it (mostly) the best but others like Chinese peoples grow up in different systems, have other views and for many of them is their system the best.

Look how China is growing for the moment. They say now that if you want to study a foreign language, Chinese will become n° 1.

That's what bothers many, the US meddelsomeness everywhere in the world (had to search this word in a dictionary and hopes it's correct)
And when I'm say US, I mean the present politicians, not an individual. I saw already on this forum that not all the US citizens thinks the same way. I spent also some short time in the US and I could live there easily I think.

In that vision, Clinton was better, even if he played some time with Lewinsky.
I think that Hillary will become a famous and ... a respected president.

    Hi Guys,
Why on earth are you trying to change the world?

Is this the beginning of the new cold war between America and Europe?

Instead of trying to unite, to try and solve some of this world's problems, every side of the ocean trying to say "Look at me, I'm better".
Forget it,. It will not work. None of you are better then the other nor bigger.
The economic world is going through a lot of changes and it will not be America or Europe or China.

It will be those who will work together and exchange knowladge.

    Think about it.

    Hi Marc.

Personally, I prefer the Boeing 777.

Personally, I prefer a Cadillac on any European car.

Personally, I prefer the British Ale on any other.

Personally, I prefer the Israeli girls.

In today's industry, there is no such a thing as totally European product or American.
All the parts are made by any manufacturer in the world that will make an offer as long as it will pass all the QC of the order.

Here in southern part of Israel, a medium size factory is making certain parts for BMW, Merc, Ford UK and Us, Opel, Chrysler, Paugeot and many others car manufacturers. The funny thing is that these parts are made in China and Taiwan up to American Standarts (Which are higher then European) And Every body is happy.
Do not worry, the new A380 is not completly made in Europe.
and time will tell if bigger is better.
But.......... if it was built by Euro-American engineers, I am sure it would be, better and cheaper.

I know that I said this in a previous thread which got onto this subject but, why was it OK for the US to support terrorism in Northern Ireland ? part of a supposedly friend of the US.

How much of the world does the US need to attack to find these terrorists ? Knee jerk reactions can cause an awful lot of bad feeling with very little effort.

I guess my basis of my infromation comes from my neighbors, fellow employees, my relatives and the like. The swill you read in the press is not the truth.

"Kerry will win the election." " Nobody in Iraq will vote." The press is out of control. Your everyday American just scuffs at the crap we read in the paper or watch on TV. Someone posted earlier that this is 'Hollywood' and they are absolutely correct. But Hollywood IS NOT America.

I would think that if you are on the outside looking in it is hard to tell the difference.

Proof: Do you for one instant believe that there would be free elections in Iraq today if the US would not have got Sadaam and his Rotten sons out of there? Every day I read the names of good Americans who have died to bring this about and all some of you can do is complain about how bad this government
Is it personnal...You bet, believe me if I could I would be there now because all people have a right to live in freedom If you are against people dying, then look at the american Revolution or the French Revolution, thousands have died for the price of freedom. Boy some of you in Europe live in a cocoon and believe that lessez faire is OK Just don't count on me

That was diffinately true about HVAC-Talk. The site has recently been sold so I don't know if the policy is still true.

ChemiCool and I communicate by email quite often. He could not get onto that site either. I made the "mistake" of questioning, on open forum, why Chemi couldn't get on the site.

Well I got my post deleted and got a nasty email from the owner of the site. This email more or less told me to mind my own business.

Could someone from England or anywere else overseas see if they can get on this site now that it has been sold? Let me know, please. I like to rattle some cages when warranted. I think the practice really sucks also. The address is www.hvac-talk.com

I never said there was one once but this was in our news today:

    Marist college nationwide,
    http://www.hillary.org/

Can we better predict what will be happening in the US then the citizens theirselves?
We're seeing it from a bigger distance and are informed more neutral without all that fantic show around it and perhaps we see it therefore a little bit clearer.
Future will tell us if we're wrong.

If nations should have female presidents, it should be a lot better in the world, there should be alot more peace an less suffering.

the 'woman' doesn't really bear comparison. Women have -some say rightly so- been kept down and chained to the kitchen sink barefoot and pregnant.

Margaret Thatcher was not shy when war was needed and the sinking of the belgrano attests that she was willing to do what was deemed ..

however it can be seen that successful women usually take on a male persona when in power due to the competitive nature of politics anyway

human nature is cruel and women are just as able to be vindictive and nasty as the men. I would hazard a guess that women have a better mental capability to be far worse than men it's just that they seldom get the opportunity.

as I watched Hillary 'stand by her man' it dawned on me like some great light that she could see a way for her to get to the top.

I have read that she was touted for UN but that was blocked but she has the drive, inside info on the political machine and the cunning to get the democratic nomination

either way it's her or Rice for the white house-you pay's your money....

then the 'people will decide' (or those fiddling the electronic ballot machines .-)

    cheers

Brings to mind the old saying "there's nothing worse than a woman scorned"

I think that you have that quotation one word too long, please subtract the last word.
