    Advice needed

I am looking at the best way to heat (and cool) a 4x4m West facing conservatory in the UK (S81). After a bit of googling I came to the conclusion that a air conditioning unit with a heat pump was the most cost efficient option (has to be electric). After some more googling I came across this site and after a bit of reading on the forum I think I have made my mind up on what I need. Can someone confirm that my thinking is correct on the following. 1)A split type air con unit used as the primary source heating will be sufficient. 2)I should be looking at a 12K BTU unit for this size of room. And do all manufactures size equate to the same thing. 3)I should go for a recognised brand (as opposed to something off ebay), Mitsubishi, or Daikin I gathered are favoured most on here, but basically anything from Japan will do. Also, any pointers to companies that do residential installs at reasonable rates would be appreciated. Thanks

i think your going a bit small on the unit for a conservatory could you give full size ceiling ,glass roof or not , glass all around or not

There will be a glass roof, dwarf walls with glass on 2 sides and a full brick 3rd side.

I was going on some estimates I had read for a 9000K unit being sufficient for 16 sq M and adding a bit extra.

    Re: Advice needed

on that size i would fit 18000 btu unit then the unit would be sufficient and energy efficient cost wise not much in it

    Re: Advice needed

For your situation we would probably fit a 5kw (18000btu) system if it is a primary heating source, obviously a survey would be needed.

But from the info you give.......and assuming you wanted a wall mount.

You could expect to pay from £1.25k to £2k + 5% vat for this kind of job, depending if you want Chinese, Korean or Japanese.

    Cheers

    Thanks Eggs

5Kw 18000BTU is more than I expected, glad I asked. Will this type of install need additional electric work or will a spur of ring suffice. The house is 10 years old so would assume no surprises with wiring.

You could get a 18000btu LG unit which are good for consevatories this like someone has said above would cost you about 1.2k fitted.

Or you could go to the higer end of the scale and get a daikin or mitsi fitted which your looking at around 2k plus.

For conservatories a 1-1 LG split would suffice.

I have ranted on here about LG multisplit systems which I dont reccomend but the 1-1 split (the type your looking at) would be fine.
