Milky coffe colour oil
I have been asked to go and look at a second stage compressor large water to water FHP unit. It is reported to be a milky coffee colour. I am going to draw some oil and let it sit and see if it seperates, also do an acid test any other suggestions? Includes is a picture that was sent to me you can see the dirty oil on the right of the site glass.

I agree with chemi!
Water mixed with the oil.
Just like when you look at the Oil Fill cap on a car to see if the oil is emulsified.
I would not be to surprised to see this on a large water cooled recip.
But your photo seems to be of a large Hermetic comp?
Not so normal, so as you say a oil sample test will clarify!
Good Luck and cheers Grizzly.Last edited by Grizzly; 17-01-2010 at 03:31 PM.
