Hoover VCN6185 E1 Fault code fridge warm freezer frosting ?
We have one of these models in our house and it keeps displaying the E1 code periodically.
Its a frost free single compressor with "pulse" vents to the fridge.
The front of the freezer has frost on the baskets too and the fridge part is not cool at all.
The fault code someties goes and even though the panel displays 5 degrees the fridge is still not cold at all.
I wonder if someone could kindly help me trouble shoot this problem ?
How can I tell if its the door seal or if its a sensor problem ?
Its been fuly defrosted numerous times.
I've added shims to the door bracket as the bottom hinge deformed slightly. Even bent it back to the right shape but the problem persists and we cant afford to lose the food or even the callout fee at the moment.
Its such a nice fridge and we are so poor we need to save it.
Many thanks in advance.
Ronnie and familly.

Re: Hoover VCN6185 E1 Fault code fridge warm freezer frosting ?
Hi There,
It sounds like the sensor is faulty, There will be 2 sensor's 1 being a temp probe and the other will be a defrost/evaperator probe.
E1 usually means the temp probe. These should be reasonably cheap from hoover.

Re: Hoover VCN6185 E1 Fault code fridge warm freezer frosting ?
Thank you very kindly Craig.
I'll ask Hoover about the probes.
I can see one at the back left of the freezer compartment but will have to search for the other.
will report back in due course.

Re: Hoover VCN6185 E1 Fault code fridge warm freezer frosting ?
Hi craig,
the chiller is warm and the freezer works.
The front of the plastic trays has snowy frost on the front nearest the door an is accumilating.
have to understand if its warm air getting past he seal or a probe I suppose.
I am handy with a multimeter if the probe can be tested. but the E1 code only comes up every now and again however the chiller is never cool.
Thanks again for your help.
Ron.

Hi Ronnie,
Id say that the fridge probe was faulty but i take no responcibility if its wrong.
I hope that u sort the problem out.
U could ask hoover for the resistance of the probes and use the multi meter to see which is reading wrong.

Re: Hoover VCN6185 E1 Fault code fridge warm freezer frosting ?
thanks Craig, apprecuiate the advice. At £5 its not a big deal to try.
Just wonder if tis the foamed in type and what to use to fix thedug out foam.
Will see when I do it.
The shop I got it from said they would have a look at it again for me, but its been back there 4 times andthey keep insisting is warm air getting ast the door as there is a snowy white area top right.
They dont offer an explanation as to why the fridge is warm though.
Will let you know.
Thanks again.
Ron.
