Anybody snowed in?
Got up this morning and couldn't get off my street in the van due to the snow.
The snow is so heavy and deep and more is expected soon.
It's chaos where i live and most people i know have had to take a day off....
It's my birthday though so i don't mind
Anyone else snowed in?

Re: Anybody snowed in?
I'm not snowed in. My Grand Voyager with FWD, Autobox and a heavy 3.3 V6 over the drive wheels has taken me and the dog out on snow/ice covered roads for the past week.
But......
Now we can't get to the end of our untreated street because of the muppets in BMW's & Lexus's (Lexii ?) abandonded their cars when they couldn't get up a three foot rise half way down the street.

Our firm has come over all benevolent about the bad weather.
If we can't make it in then we can take the day as a holiday or as authorised unpaid leave.

Re: Anybody snowed in?
Tee shirt and shorts material around here. The BBQ is humming, waxed the surf board again.Bleedin' phone went off, so still working. Checked for snow. No clouds anywhere, hot az.
I have found that as soon as the surf board comes out the mobile phone goes ballistic. probably just as well, because I seem to loose a lot of bark ( skin ) when out there cranking the young fellas up.

Re: Anybody snowed in?
Lived in Somerset for the last 12 years and I am snowed in.
Only ever happened once before.
1 day last year funnily enough!
Most of our guys in the South West are in the same position.
Mind emailing one of the guys in Queensland this morning around 34 c over there.
Could be worse could be further North!
Brian.
As far as I know we are getting paid?
Mind! That does depend upon how long we are snowed in for?

Update:
After the supervisors, managers and directors received so many emails and phone calls expressing disgust with the company and their attitude to health and safety, as well as the promise of legal action, they have withdrawn their threat and adjusted it to:-

Re: Anybody snowed in?
sitting watching telly a short while ago when there was a noise like a plane hitting the roof ( **** myself).
checked out side to discover all my gutters and down pipes have been ripped of with the weight of the snow sliding of the roof.
anyone recommend someone in the Edinburgh area that might be able to fix it?

Re: Anybody snowed in?
Coolhibby.
The answer is don't live in Scotland, pack your summer kilt and move to NZ.
Other than that the Russians have figured it out, they have what looks like a small fence around the outer reaches of roof, that holds the snow in place, and fix the guttering slightly below the roof line. If the lot slides off it misses the guttering. Wouldn't pay to walking past at the time though, several tonnes of snow on the head is not funny.

Coolhibby,
it was an act of god, tell that to the insurance company, or else sue god for repairs. Billy Connelly has it sorted out, check with him.

Re: Anybody snowed in?
Dont know what all the fuss is about. No problems at all up here. Most problems caused by main roads not being gritted but with care it hasnt caused any probs. Pictures attached show the worst its been.
1) A47 dual carrageway near Acle
2) Parked up in Great yarmouth
