Secondery Glycol systems
Hi there,
Was wondering if any one knows of any sites or carries out service work anywhere where they are using glycol as a secondery refrigerant in a cool store for the long term storage of kiwi fruit??
Any info would be much appreciated.

Re: Secondery Glycol systems
Hi are you wanting to use the Kiwi hydro-chiller, or are you just looking for a dry coil (like a normal air evap and fan) either way there is not a great issue. In some ways some what easier to control load fluctuations.
Of course efficiency is going to be a bit lower.

Hi JC DARBY.
Kiwi fruit storage rooms require high humidity as well as low temps, from memory +1.0C., 95 + %RH. Nerve racking stuff. Hence the development of thermofresh saturated coolers. You can use glycol in cools, less harsh than DX. I looked after several similar stores years ago, and to get a good nights sleep use to spray water over the chiller floor everynight before going home, to ensure the RH didnot drop and stuff up millions of dollars of fruit overnight.
