    Overclockers

I've been on and off this site now for well over 18 months....I'm 41 years young...with 20 odd years in the industry....and I'm a bit embarassed to say that I have never heard the term "overclockers".....Central Processing Unit (CPU) yes, PLC yes, but "Overclockers" No....Where has that term originated??

    Re: Overclockers

It is a term developed by people who make cooling units specifically for their computer chips to keep them running as cool as possible.

With the chip temperature being held down it is possible to run the processor at higher speeds than specified by the maker.

Overclocking is like drag racing for computers.
