5 year warranty Products, who offers them
A Question to you business sales managers out there.
Who can you get a 5 year warranty off ?
We are Daikin D1 and have a 5 year warranty on the Daikin units.
Mitsi Heavy are in the process to getting a system running with a 5 year warranty.
Are there any other manufacturers offering a 5 year warranty, as this does seem (to us anyway) a really good selling point for products at the moment.

Not a sales manager but have worked with a number of manufacturers on commissioning validation for 5 year waranties.
Mitsubishi Electric have been doing 5 year warranty for a number of years in the UK for the contractors who qualify for the Business Solutions Partner program.
Hitachi also have been doing a 5 years warranty for Set Free VRF products based on a final commissioning check site visit by Hitachi technical service engineer.
The major manufacturers have been using this in one form or another as a sales tool for quite a few years.
It tends to exclude the budget manufacturers who have difficulty with even 3 year warranty.

It depends on your location :
In Ro, Daikin has a 3 year warranty
and Mitsubishi a 2 year standard, but for large systems, if you can prove you have a service agreement to maintain the system they can go for 4 years.
In Ro 5 year are only for stuff made in china, and some heat pumps made in Germany, but i heard of a company in France that is giving 30 years warranty for heat pumps, don't remember the brand

5 year warranty? What does the warranty cover? Who pays for the engineer to come and fix the "warranty" issue?

Re: 5 year warranty Products, who offers them
It's not absolute rubbish, it's manufacturers that are confident in the quality of their equipment.
It's started when we began seeing more brands becoming available, and obviously the major manufacturers were never going to be able to match (for example) mass imported Chinese crap on price so they took the decision to trade on their quality, something the cheap **** simply can't compete with. It's a very shrewd business decision.
Also, It's pointless asking if it's honoured, it's a legal requirement, it can't be offered then withdrawn at will.

Within the Australian market, All the major brands are forced to offer a 5 year warranty by way of competition. I believe it was either sharp or Mitsi Electric that started the 5 year warranty here and soon after they all followed suit.
So now Daikin, Mitsi heavy, Mitsi electric, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Carrier and even Delonghi all offer a full 5 year parts and labour warranty (though Mitsi Heavy commercial applications drops to 3 years). It does make it so much easier to sell these units over the imported chinese cheapies due to the confidence in the system.
