AC units as cooling units
Just a wild, perhaps stupid idea of me: should a grouped import of cheap, unlabeled outdoor units - only the outdoors - for use in small cooling applications not be a good idea?
We could ask that they fit a dryer and a small receiver in the unit and perhaps a fan speed controller.
Topped of with a sight glass and a filterdryer.
They don't have to fill them with gas and on't have to deliver copper lines, only the unit.
We can ask for prices without obligations
I think they can make it for half the price we pay now for an outdoor unit with a weather protection.

Aiyub, maybe "Aiycool"
Eggs, you can use them in any application where you need +/- 6 kW cooling at -10°C (for the largest units).
Oh, I forgot, perhaps a dryer and a sight-glass already fitted in the unit. It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Re: AC units as cooling units
As usual with great ideas, someone already thought of it. The new J & E Hall low noise outdoor condensing units are derived from their A/C range made in Malaysia but using European sourced components - mainly Danfoss. They ustilize the same casings but have receiver, hp/lp, drier, sight glass, fan speed controller and even full IP55 starter panel with isolator. Low temp models also have oil seps. And yes, they are very competetive. You can buy them from AFR Refrigeration Ltd. in England tel. +44208 875 1999. They also have European distributors.

Re: AC units as cooling units
Well, a complete unit, indoor (wall mounted) and outdoor which can give 3,5 kW at -10°C will cost 232 US$ cooling only and 239 (only 7$ more) for a heat pump version (+/- 125 £)
I'm sure they can fit units with sight glasses, receiver and filter-dryer for less than the price a indoor unit costs. It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
