Daikin Powers itself up, then shuts down repeatedly
This units keeps doing this randomly, without any action from the user. Basically turns itself on, runs for 15-60 seconds then shuts down. maybe repeats again in 5-30 mins and just keeps doing that cycle. Any clues?

I think you may have to provide more detail than that.

Yes, what is the model number ?
Also, is it a wired remote controller or a hand held? Could be getting interference from other sources.Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Daikin Powers itself up, then shuts down repeatedly
I would suggest you first check the outdoor unit PCB for signs of corrosion, particularly around the test run button. Units installed in coastal areas have been known to intermittantly start a test run due to the corrosion causing a short circuit. If you find tis is the case I would suggest you replace the PCB and also coat the board with a spray pcb sealant/lacquer.

Re: Daikin Powers itself up, then shuts down repeatedly
This issue I would say is related to retry's. This type of split system (Multi) is inverter driven and written in the software will be a function that when an error occurs the unit will not automatically generate the error code. It can do up to 16 retry attempts before stopping under error and generating a fault code. The timing between the retry attempts can take up to 30 minutes. If you reset the at all during the retry events, you will reset the error, once it is noted again, the retry function will be re-activated and again you will need to wait for the total amount of retry;s to complete before any code occurs. I suggest that you check the output from the PCB as I would envisage that this error is down to either the compressor or fan motor.

Re: Daikin Powers itself up, then shuts down repeatedly
Hi Guys, I found this thread whilst searching for faults with Daikin air cons. I'm not a technician but have had exactly this issue with mine. 3 units come on and off together randomly and refuses to turn off with the remotes. I've noticed it seems to happen after electrical storms and resolves by turning the power off at the breaker for 10 minutes and turning it back on. Cheers.

Re: Daikin Powers itself up, then shuts down repeatedly
Hi guys,
I believe i have the same unit and problem, though im not living in the coastal area. As what Gowron said it happens after electrical storms. However my unit also randomly turns on at night or at certain times of the day. Thus i rang and got a Air condition servicer to have a look, he said this will happen when the weather is humid or damp and concluded that it had some corrosion and we must replace the PCB.
The company quoted us for $1,203.5AUD to replace the outdoor PCB.
However its been working fine for about a month now.
What im want to ask is should i replace it?
and is $1,203.5 a reasonable price for a PCB or im getting ripped off?
any thoughts guys?
Thanks!

Re: Daikin Powers itself up, then shuts down repeatedly
yes this will be the outdoor printed circuit board moisture tracking.
It shorts out the test button on the outdoor unit.
Replace the outdoor printed circuit board.
