Does anyone know hot to change oil in an copeland zr compressor??

Haven´t found any document about this on their site nor on internet..

I don't think you can. It's an hermetic scroll.

Change of oil in ZR series is difficult & not an accurate process. Hence iy is imperative that oil does not get contaminated ; install suction line filters , have a hygenic system , extra precautions during piping etc

If it has rotalock valves (and is under 7.5 hp as they have a suction strainer) you can remove the suction valve and feed in a thin flexible tube (e.g. silicone tube such as used for fuel lines on model cars or planes) and suck it out with either a syringe or a recovery bottle you have pulled a vacuum in.
Measure how much came out so you know how much to put back in.
Or if its a small one you can remove it tip it up so the oil runs out the suction connection.
On the big 7.5hp ones you can suck the oil out the oil fill connection, once its down to the level of the 1/4" fitting remove it and use the small silicone tube to get the last of the oil out, or tip it over to 45'.

If its brazed in its more hastle and i think your only option would be to cut the pipework and tip it up, as brazed ones don't usually have oil sightglasses and oil fill ports.

I have changed the oil in five or six of these so it is possbile

Got 2 compressors that need oilchange before intalled into other systems.

one zr61 and one zr48.

They are both brazed and doesn´t have any oilsightglass.

so it´s safe to tilt them overnight to drain oil then ?

going to use poe oil and r134a or r404a havnt desided that one yet

You have to check first if they are designed for these refrigerants . Pressure wise.

ZR are for R-22 and for medium temp.

I have run ZB R404A scrolls on R22 keeping the original poe oil, and ZR R22 scrolls on R407C after changing the oil without problems.
Don't know about R134a it may depend on your evaporating and condensing temps if the compressor is still in its designed application range.

What model of zr48 / zr61? Need to check the shell capability against the refrigerant choice.

One will be water-water groundloop, and the other exhaustair -water.

the zr serie is designed for 134,407 (The old series of compressors)

Shell capability = max pressure. Guys, more and more of you are no more than pirates, loaned to this job, but you shall be kicked out of business with no mercy.
The max pressure is declared on the label and it's the PS, max safety pressure!!!! It has nothing to do with the shell capability.
Also, one cannot change the oil to a hermetic, and NO, you're not smart using a straw and making a blow job to suck the oil out. It's not foreseen by the producer? Then you simply CAN'T.

By vacuuming compressor with vacuum pump from discharge side and put one tube of manifold in oil container and connect other one to suction side valve ( compressor ).
oil goes through manifold to compressor
