Question Like to get suggestion on Hydraulic Oil Cooler

We are in process to make one Hydraulic Oil cooler for hydraulic power pack with 30 HP motor. Due to non availability of water , it is explored whether we should go for heat exchanging through Plate Cooler directly between refrigerant ( R22 ) and hydraulic oil ( grade 68) . The temperature to maintain at 35 deg. C. Can any one suggest best refrigerant for this and what problem we may face for this direct heat exchange instead of normal practice of Refrigerant- Water and Water- Hydraulic oil combination ?

35 Deg. C is temperature you can normally achieve at ambient conditions. Best option is to use water based heat exchanger (like a closed circuit air cooled cooling tower). This should solve your purpose. Using refrigerant for this should be a second option.

We have had success using normal air cooled heat exchanges with variable speed fans, this is on mobile power packs.
Do you need to keep the temp below 35 deg. C or is the maximum allowable?

Yes it would work if u'r outside temperature dose not cross 30 deg. C, but the ideal system would be to have a oil-water heat exchange and then have a cooling tower or a air cooled heat exchange and a water chiller, and a little command board that checks the outside temperature if it is under let's say 25-30 deg.C to use the air cooled heat exchange and if the temperature is up, to use the chiller.
The problem with the tower is that it eats water that u say d it's not available

Your solution would use a lot of electricity when you could use free cooling, but practically compared to just a chiller and no free cooling u would have a high cop and there for lower energy consumption, but u should thing about the evaporation limits of the condensing unit or what u want to use.
