    Question about calculating compressor power

    Hi all, I am from Indonesia..
    I'd like to cool a 500 litre water down to 3 degrees Celcius, how big of a compressor do I need? How many BTU? Roughly how much time needed to reach that temperature from, let's say, 32 degrees celcius?

    Basically I wonder if there is a simple formula to calculate it?

    Thanks, all answers are appreciate it.
    If you dont mind, just email me at ysh1317@cbn.net.id.

    Re: Question about calculating compressor power

    Q = m cp dt
    m = mass flow
    cp = specific heat of water
    dt = temperature gap

    the mass flow is the quantity of water in time. Basicly, there's a difference in power to cool down 500 liters of water in 1 minute or 1 hour about that is 1 to 60.

    Therefore, in metric units, for a cooling time of 1 hour.

    Q = 500 Kg/h x 4.2 kJ/Kg K x 27 K = 56700 kJ/h = 15.75 kJ/s = 15.75 kW = 53.7 MBTU/h

    Well put and simply explained "nonickname ", at +3.0 ' C water I would recommend an icebank if not using glycol.
